Swami Vivekananda's 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration
"My ideal indeed can be put into a few words and that is: to preach unto mankind their divinity, and how to make it manifest in every movement of life."
Swami Vivekananda was one of the greatest spiritual leaders of the modern world, a great lover of humanity whose unconditional love extended to all people without any distinctions of caste, class, creed, race, region or religion. The year 2013 marks his 150th birth anniversary. In India, grand celebrations are underway. To admirers and followers of Swamiji, Chicago holds a special place. It was here that he first became known to America and the West. He had said I have a message for the West as Buddha had a message for the East
and it was at the Parliament of Relgions in 1893 in Chicago that the message was heard first.
The Vivekananda Vedanta Society of Chicago has an extensive series of programs in September, October and November to commemorate Swamiji's life and message. We invite you to join us in the celebration.
